‘Expect the unexpected.’ I believe that is how the saying goes and as I sit here and reflect on this past year, I can honestly say that 2014 has been my year for unexpected. The year started just like any other, having set goals and specific time-frames to achieve them by. However, as time progressed, unforeseen circumstances prevented all of my set goals from materializing.
My main goal set at the end of 2013 was to simply start and complete the building of my home with the aim of moving in by December 2014. Sounded pretty simple when I thought it up; how it actually went down was a different story. Firstly the house plans that were submitted for approval in October 2013, were not approved till March 2014. Following that, it was one thing after a next (builder, bank, electrician) and before you knew it, it was October 2014 and the project didn’t even get off the ground. Even as I write this, nothing is cast in stone but I’m hoping to start this venture by Mar 2015.
Last year in my 2013 Wrap up, I mentioned the wedding of one of my old school buds. This year, in February to be exact, I had somewhat of a reunion with The Chronic Crew. For those who have been following me since I’ve been on the web would know about The Chronic Crew but for the new and recent visitors, here is a little bit of history; The Chronic Crew is the name given to the group of people I hung out with in high school. We once had a website, a logo and a trail of memorable history linking back to the days when ICQ was in existence; At the time, I hadn’t seen most of those guys for years. For some it would have been over 7 years and others with the exception of Jerome would have been 4 years. It was great to meet and catch up with everyone after so long, seeing the noticeable changes in everyone, some looked like little fat men, while others were loosing their hair. I the only exception. I even had one of the guys ask whats my secret or as he put it “you cant be looking so sexy after all these years” It was fun linking up with those guys and throughout the year we kept in touch and had little pocket of limes when we could. I also took the liberty of doing a revised group logo, which we plan on putting on T shirts in 2015.
