Trials of The Heart
Written By: Bernel Rennie on 31st July 2013
A broken heart has two beats
One is the hurt the other is the memory on repeat
Silence is the vacuum of grief when tears pierce your skin like rounds from a gun
You bleed out all warm feelings gone no wonder you’re now known as the cold hearted one
A song of pain with a symphony of sympathy for the lost ones
Those who lost their chance to make it up to you, because you put them in jail
A consequence of having the same face like the last murder suspect
The same one who killed your chance of finding true love at first sight
That was just the first strike that led to the end game, since you don’t play with pain
And won’t be played for a fool.
Gambled with destiny cause you thought the house always wins but you were just renting
Storage space in an old abandoned building on the left of his chest which he didn’t treasure
Glass half full or half empty no one knows cause no one wants to measure
How much time it took to get over it, how many tears it took to drown it
How much alcohol to forget it how many lies to bury it
But it won’t lie down stood out like a bad sore
That won’t heal, you think time heals, it coats like nail polish
Fades overtime and the bare truth is exposed like an ugly witch
Witnesses turn passers by no more knowledge of what happened
It’s now on to the next thing that’s the big thing even though it’s only alleged
Mind is wasted like a drunken bum in the trash
All reasoning is tucked away like the duffle bag stash
Talk bout being between a rock and a hard place
Concrete jungle been in there for 15 because of the last case
Not guilty your honour but so I was found
For being stupid in society I checked at a pawn
One step forward two steps back
In God you trust but it’s faith I lack
